About Us

Permaculture with a purpose

Benevolence Orchard and Gardens (B.O.G.) is more than just a thriving agricultural endeavor; it's a testament to the power of permaculture principles and a mission centered around holistic practices and responsible land stewardship. Our hub is a harmonious blend of fruits, vegetables, herbs, perennials, and mushrooms, all carefully interwoven, where we prioritize soil enrichment, biodiversity, and emulate the wisdom of nature in every project we undertake.

The well-being of our community is and always will be our top priority. Our Orchard Hub stands as a symbol of this commitment, where you can discover a selection of seasonal offerings at the hub stand and connect with fellow community members, our dedicated staff, and perhaps even an occasional wandering barn cat or chicken.

We are passionately committed to educating and involving everyone, from people to critters, and the ecosystems in our beautiful Boulder surroundings. We hope to see you at B.O.G soon!

Areas of Stewardship

  • B.O.G is a a blossoming orchard offering a variety of heritage fruit trees organically grown using holistic natural practices. Growing a diverse understory of symbiotic plant material, mostly herbs, underneath the fruit trees that bring nutrients and insects to the soil is an important part of the process. We harvest and sell apples, cider and pantry goods made from our orchards.

  • We specialize in fruit tree propagation by grafting onto specific root stock with a focus on local soil and climate. We test and select fruit trees that are vigorous, disease and fire blight resistant, and can thrive in this Colorado environment. We grow perennial plants using seeds and cuttings. We sell these permaculture plants at our orchard hub, offering sales of our farm grown saplings when in season. We hold community classes to share our knowledge about propagation throughout the year.

  • On the farm, we specialize in the cultivation and inoculation of a wide variety of edible and medicinal mushrooms. We offer CSA mushroom shares seasonally, and utilize our locally grown mushrooms for tinctures and health products you can purchase at G.O.B’s Hub.

  • Soil building is a foundational aspect of our orchard's sustainable farming practices. By mimicking the land's natural patterns and processes, we create a harmonious ecosystem that enriches the soil, promotes biodiversity, and fosters a resilient and thriving environment for our fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, perennials, and mushrooms. Our commitment to soil building serves as the cornerstone of our holistic approach to land stewardship, fostering a healthier and more sustainable future for our orchard and the community it serves.

  • From spinach, chard, tomatoes, peppers, onion, garlic, carrots, and daikon- you name it, we probably grow it! We take pride in our natural and holistic growing methods and meet the elements and nature head on. We never spray our produce with pesticides or toxic products. We've meticulously planted our gardens on the natural contours of the land, allowing us to harness the power of nature's design. This thoughtful approach not only conserves water but also prevents it from running off the land, ensuring that every precious drop is utilized for the growth of our plants. Our veggies and herbs are the cleanest you’ve ever seen!

  • Herbs play an important role in the understory of the orchard that lines the farm. We harvest the diverse variety of herbs on the land to sell at the HUB and turn these bounties into tinctures and remedies too.

  • B.O.G is teeming with life. We have a healthy flock of poultry including; egg laying hens, turkey and duck. These animals roam our land, helping re-build the soil, and close the loop on waste by enjoying our healthy compost scraps. Our orchard terrain is dotted with beautiful bee hives, buzzing around the farm and doing the important work of pollinating our plants to perfection. You can find our delicious local honey and beautiful multi-colored chicken eggs for sale at our Hub.

  • Our selection of cut flowers for sale at the farm play an important role as guild plants. Flowers such as comfrey, yarrow and calendula are super supportive and beneficial to grow around fruit trees. The less grass and more companion plants that you can have fix nitrogen into your soil. Putting things in a system where nature takes care of itself. This is one way we support the guild of a poly-culture vs. a monoculture system.

  • At the Hub we are proud to offer a seasonal selection of products made from the bounty we’ve harvested from our land. Some of these products include;

    • Pantry goods; vinegars, apple sauce, fire cider, elderberry syrup, honey

    • Herbal self care; balms, salves, spritz’s

    • Mushroom tonics and tinctures to support health, wellness and immunity.
